Welcome

Hello and welcome to Three Bees in a Blue Bonnet.

I’m so glad that you’ve stopped by. I hope you’ll curl up here with a cup of tea and spend a little time with me.

I haven’t been blogging for too terribly long, but I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. I’m passionate about writing and words and thankful to my Creator for making it one of the gifts that He’s blessed me with.

In addition to my writing, I’m blessed to be married to my best friend, and we often joke about our first date – where I told him that we could have fun and have a great time together, but that he shouldn’t count on anything long term with me. We’ve been doing our not-a-long-term thing for nearly twenty years now. Several years into our life together, we added one more – and being a Mama is the one job that stretches me, challenges me, and grows me more than anything else I do.

When I first started putting virtual pen to paper, this site was just a place to collect and share my poetry; my Toastmaster speeches, and other rambling thoughts. In the Fall of 2012, I discovered Ann Voskamp, author of 1000 Gifts and blog A Holy Experience, who led me to the website (in)courage, that led to the discovery of community groups, writing groups, new friends, and Five Minute Fridays (not to mention launching me into Twitter and the discovery of Twitter parties). The thread tying all these sites, friends, and blogs together, is the heart of Christ - the revelation of grace abundant; given freely for anyone who needs it. It helped focus my writing and my intention and reset my path with a new direction.

My goal with my writing is to share the journey that I’m on – a sometimes bumpy road – but one that always has me following Christ as my lead; trusting in His timing and His purpose; and relying on Him to be my Navigator as I make my way.

Through my writing, I’ll share my love of books, my joys and struggles in parenting, my desert journey and what God has taught me along the way, the fun I have with cooking and creating warm, inviting spaces for others to come in to, how very much I love imagery and photography, and my desire for community that places God at its heart.

My hope as you gather here with me and that you’ll find a connection point – something that makes you say, “oh yes, me too.” And that you’ll feel His love shine through to give you hope and encouragement – even in your darkest places. One of my favorite verses, and my hope for you to remember is this:

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
that I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
